PRS DGT Semi-Hollow - Custom Color
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
Born from one of David Grissom's personal Private Stock guitars and refined across more than twenty years of collaboration with Paul Reed Smith, the DGT Semi-Hollow arrives as the logical evolution of an already iconic instrument. This particular example makes the case even more compellingly, dressed in an unnamed custom finish that earns every comparison to tiger eye — a warm, swirling amber-gold over curly maple that burns and shifts under the high-gloss nitro, the burst easing through the mahogany back and neck in a way that makes the whole instrument feel lit from within. The violin carve adds sculptural depth that photographs beautifully and feels even better in person, and the moon inlays trace a familiar PRS constellation up the rosewood board. When the Interstellar Tone Traveler encounters a guitar with no official color name, that typically means only one exists — and this is that guitar.
Where the solid-body DGT delivers its well-documented tonal authority, the semi-hollow body shifts the character in specific, purposeful ways: a warmer top end, slightly less low-end mass, and a more controlled, musical feedback response that opens up expressive territory the solidbody can't quite reach. At 7lbs 6oz, this one-piece mahogany neck guitar carries that extra resonance without weight, and the DGT neck profile — substantial and authoritative at 27/32" at the first fret — settles into the hand with the confidence of a guitar built for serious playing. Custom-voiced DGT humbuckers drive the signal with articulate, vintage-inspired character, dual volume controls give each pickup independent feel, and the push/pull tone unlocks single-coil tones that extend the tonal range well beyond what the toggle alone suggests. PRS Gen II Patented Tremolo, Phase III tuners with faux bone buttons, and jumbo frets on a 10" radius board complete an instrument that is — to borrow Grissom's own word for it — a super versatile companion to anything else in your collection.
