Few builders in the boutique guitar world have earned the cult following and respect of James Tyler Guitars. Since the 1970s, James Tyler has been crafting instruments that blend unmistakable visual identity with world-class playability, tone, and innovation — and players from studio professionals to touring artists continue to rely on them today.
James Tyler is best known for the Studio Elite series, including the flagship Studio Elite HDX — Tyler's top-tier model featuring premium tonewoods, his signature Vari-Style neck system, and proprietary electronics that deliver an exceptionally wide tonal range. The Dann Huff Signature Studio Elite HDX brings Tyler's collaboration with the legendary session guitarist to life, with custom specs dialed in for players who demand studio-grade performance.
What sets Tyler apart is finish work. Signature paint styles like the Shmear, Vice Shmear, Hazmat Smear, and White Smear have become instantly recognizable — each one a hand-applied, one-of-a-kind finish that makes every guitar visually unique. Combined with Tyler's ultra-comfortable neck profiles and dynamic electronics, these are instruments designed to inspire every time you pick them up.
