One of One: Our PRS Private Stock Modern Eagle V in Koa

At Interstellar Guitars, we believe a truly exceptional instrument begins with a vision. This one started in the heart of the PRS Private Stock Vault.

This Paul Reed Smith Private Stock Modern Eagle V is a one-of-a-kind build, personally specced by our team and made with tonewoods we hand-selected in person at PRS's wood library. Private Stock is the top tier of what Paul Reed Smith offers, and this guitar is a totally custom, one-off example of it: a refined build and a natural beauty.

The Woods

Every material on this guitar was chosen for visual beauty, tonal character, and how well it works with everything around it.The top is exotic Koa over a Swamp Ash back. That pairing gives you tons of snap and articulation from the ash, with the smooth, soft-edged character Koa is known for accentuating the tone. The neck is curly maple, stained to match, topped with a roasted curly maple fingerboard and a roasted curly maple headstock veneer. The truss rod cover is roasted maple as well, and the tuner buttons are curly maple stained to match.

The body is finished in natural high-gloss nitro, while the neck wears a satin nitro finish for a fast, vintage feel in the hand. At just 6 lbs 10 oz, it's a lightweight champion.

The Most Versatile Modern Eagle

The Modern Eagle line goes back to 2004, when PRS introduced it as a distillation of everything the company had learned about building electric guitars. The Modern Eagle V is the fifth installment in the series, and it is PRS's most versatile offering. The pickup layout is where that versatility lives. Two ME V TCI humbuckers, in the neck and bridge, sit on either side of an NS-01 single coil in the middle. TCI, or Tuned Capacitance Inductance, is PRS's approach to tuning the electrical behavior of the coils together to get more refined, more musical results. With a 5-way blade switch and two mini-switches for modern switching options, the tonal palette is, frankly, overloaded with tasty tones. Whether you're after thick humbucker leads, glassy single-coil clarity, or something in between, it's all here.

A PRS Gen III tremolo in smoked black and gold handles vibrato, and PRS Phase III setscrew locking tuners keep everything stable.

The Details

The Sparkle Mother of Pearl bird inlays add just the right touch of elegance to the fretboard, and the headstock carries a Sparkle Mother of Pearl Private Stock Eagle. Green Luminlay side dots keep you oriented in any lighting condition. The guitar ships in a Private Stock black paisley case.
