Gibson USA Victory Floyd Rose - Iguana Burst
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
The Interstellar Tone Traveler remembers when the original Gibson Victory landed in the early 80s — a bold, double-cutaway statement from a company that wasn't afraid to chase the decade's hunger for speed, sustain, and stage presence. The 2024 reintroduction quickly became one of the most talked-about guitars in the modern Gibson lineup, but players spoke up almost immediately with one clear request: add a Floyd Rose. Gibson listened. The Victory Floyd Rose arrives with everything that made the updated Victory a hit — AA figured maple top over mahogany, SlimTaper neck, ebony fingerboard, zebra-bobbin 80's Tribute humbuckers — and adds the Floyd Rose locking vibrato system that the shred-approved crowd has been asking for. Finished in Iguana Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, with that deep green-to-amber burst highlighting the figured maple top in a way that feels simultaneously vintage and completely modern, this guitar looks as good as it plays.
The 25.5" scale length is the first thing that separates the Victory from Gibson's traditional lineup — longer scale means brighter attack, snappier response, and excellent tension for drop tunings, opening up sonic territory that Gibson's shorter-scale instruments simply don't cover. The compound 10"-14" radius ebony fingerboard makes everything from open chords to high-register bending effortless, and the Floyd Rose locking nut and tremolo ensure rock-solid tuning stability no matter how far you push the bar. The 80's Tribute humbuckers with open zebra bobbins nail that decade's aesthetic and deliver a wide tonal range through Gibson's push/pull coil-split volume and inner/outer coil-select tone controls — far more versatility than the simple control layout suggests. The six-on-a-side Explorer-style headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, black multi-ply pickguard, and chrome hardware complete a package that feels authentically 80s without being retro for its own sake. At 7 lbs 2 oz, she's a featherweight built for long, fast nights.
