Gibson SJ-200 60's Original - Vintage Sunburst
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
They called it the King of the Flat-Tops in 1937, and nearly ninety years of history have done nothing to challenge that title. The Gibson SJ-200 is the most visually commanding, sonically imposing acoustic guitar ever to carry the Gibson name — a Super Jumbo body so large and so resonant that it seems to generate its own gravitational field, pulling every note toward a deeper, more authoritative version of itself. The Interstellar Tone Traveler is proud to offer the SJ-200 60s Original in Vintage Sunburst, which replicates the instrument exactly as it appeared during one of its most celebrated eras — the decade when Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison reached for this guitar when they needed something that could fill a room, define a recording, and stand as the visual centerpiece of any stage they walked onto. AAA figured maple back and sides glow under that Vintage Sunburst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the figure catching the light in sweeping, dramatic waves, with a checkerboard marquetry strip running down the center of the back in a nod to the model's ornate heritage.
Every detail of this guitar announces its pedigree without apology. The solid AAA Sitka spruce top, braced with Traditional Scalloped X-Bracing, delivers the projection and dynamic range that only a Super Jumbo body can fully realize. The iconic Moustache bridge in solid rosewood, adorned with mother-of-pearl hourglass and teardrop inlays, is one of the most recognizable pieces of hardware in acoustic guitar history — and it sits atop a bone saddle for the purest possible acoustic voice. Mother-of-pearl Graduated Crown inlays march up the rosewood fingerboard in the stately procession that has defined SJ-200 aesthetics since the beginning, and the two-piece maple neck with walnut stringer and Round profile at 1.69" nut width replicates the feel that players of the 1960s knew and loved. LR Baggs VTC electronics and soundhole-mounted controls make this Super Jumbo stage-ready whenever the moment calls — discreet, transparent, and beautifully integrated. The King of the Flat-Tops, dressed for the cosmos.
