Gibson Original Series LG-2 50's - Vintage Sunburst

The Interstellar Tone Traveler knows that the most powerful forces in the universe often come in smaller bodies — and the Gibson LG-2 50's Original in Vintage Sunburst is proof. First launched in 1942 during Gibson's legendary Banner era, the LG-2 earned its reputation as a nimble alternative to larger dreadnoughts, delivering a bold, balanced tone from a compact frame that punches well above Earth's atmosphere. This 50's Original brings that golden-age spirit back into orbit with a solid Sitka spruce top over solid mahogany back and sides, fueled by traditional scalloped X-bracing for a rich, focused voice that's articulate enough for delicate fingerstyle constellations and powerful enough for full-throttle strumming launches. The Historic V-profile mahogany neck connects via a compound dovetail joint secured with hot hide glue — an old-world construction method that enhances resonance and sustain in ways modern builds rarely replicate.
An unbound rosewood fretboard with classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays keeps the aesthetic clean and timeless, while a sloped rectangular rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle, and Grover® tuners ensure rock-solid performance stability across any mission. The Sitka spruce top gives this model a livelier, brighter character than its wartime mahogany-top predecessors — versatile across genres and recording scenarios, sitting beautifully in a mix without overpowering it. For modern explorers, the onboard L.R. Baggs™ VTC system makes this ship stage- and studio-ready straight out of the Gibson hardshell case, with discreet soundhole-mounted controls that keep you in command without disrupting the vintage vibe. Whether it's your couch companion, live co-pilot, or secret studio weapon — this one's built to travel.
