Gibson Custom Shop Interstellar M2M Explorer Custom - Classic White VOS

The Interstellar Tone Traveler has spent our entire first year in business seeking out the finest instruments in the known universe — and now, for the first time, we've built one of our own. The Gibson Custom Shop M2M 1958 Explorer Custom in Classic White is the first guitar to carry the Interstellar Guitars name as its origin story, a Made-to-Measure collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop executed to our exact specification and available nowhere else on earth. We started with one of the most historically charged body shapes in all of electric guitar history — the 1958 Explorer, a design so radical and so far ahead of its time that Gibson could barely sell it when it was new, and that now commands stratospheric prices whenever an original surfaces. We gave it the full LP Custom treatment: multi-ply body binding, cream-bound ebony fingerboard, Mother of Pearl block inlays, and Classic White nitrocellulose VOS finish with vintage patina that makes this guitar look like it has been on the wall of a legendary collection for sixty years. The result is exactly what we imagined: the futuristic aggression of the Explorer shape, dressed with the formal elegance of a Les Paul Custom, in the most iconic color combination Gibson has ever produced.
Every construction detail honors the original 1958 specification without apology. Long tenon neck joint in hide glue, authentic 1950s no-tube truss rod, nylon nut, ABR-1 bridge with nickel-plated brass saddles, lightweight aluminum stop bar, and 6100 Dunlop jumbo frets — period-correct construction with a modern fret wire upgrade that makes every note feel locked in and effortless. The Custom wiring runs 2 Volume and 1 Tone with CTS 500K pots and ceramic caps, a configuration that keeps the signal path clean and direct. The "S Bucker" pickups are a custom specification — a set of specially underwound Custombuckers voiced for a lower-output, more open, more dynamically responsive character than standard Custombuckers, with the vintage PAF shimmer and clarity that the Explorer's mahogany-and-ebony platform rewards at every volume. Nickel silver authentic profile covers, Mini Grover tuners, and brass strap buttons complete a guitar built from the ground up to be exactly what we wanted it to be — and exactly what no one else has. Only 5 of these exist in the world. Arrives with Certificate of Authenticity and Custom Shop hardshell case. Welcome to the Interstellar collection.
