Tom Anderson Angel 7 - Teal Wakesurf

The Interstellar Tone Traveler doesn't always find subtlety when scouting the far reaches of the boutique guitar universe — sometimes the signal that comes back is loud, clear, and devastating in the best possible way. The Tom Anderson Angel 7 in Teal Waksurf is exactly that kind of find: a precision-built American instrument that hits with serious tonal authority while looking like something pulled from the bottom of a tropical sea on an alien world. Anderson's Santa Barbara shop is one of the few builders on the planet where every guitar that ships is personally inspected and measured to exacting tolerances, and the Angel 7 wears that reputation well. At 7lbs 12oz, it sits in the sweet spot — substantial enough to resonate with authority, light enough to play all night without complaint.
The foundation is a Swamp Ash body capped with a Flame Maple top, and here's where things get genuinely rare: flame figuring on Swamp Ash is not something you typically encounter. The Teal Waksurf finish sets it off brilliantly — a deep, shifting teal with a character that plays differently under every light. A Caramel Maple neck with Even Taper profile (.810"–.870") wears a Satin Natural finish that lets your hand move freely, and the 12"–14" compound radius Jumbo Stainless Steel frets make bends effortless from the low positions through the highest reaches of the fretboard. Anderson's HC1 and HC2 humbuckers in Raw Nickel covers deliver a warm, complex voicing that gets thick and punishing or opens up into clear, articulate cleans depending on where you set the 5-way, and the Vintage Tremolo stays locked in tune with Locking tuners backing it up. This one is ready to work.
