There are signature guitars, and then there are signature guitars born from a genuine obsession with tone — and the PRS DGT belongs firmly in the latter category. David Grissom is the kind of player the Interstellar Tone Traveler goes out of their way to study: a guitarist's guitarist whose reputation for taste, feel, and extraordinary tone precedes him across every galaxy in the known universe. The Wood Library designation means this particular instrument was hand-selected by PRS's own luthiers from their most exceptional stock — a Curly Maple 10 Top draped over a Swamp Ash body that changes everything about how this guitar speaks. Where mahogany offers warmth and thickness, Swamp Ash brings something rarer and more addictive: percussive attack, a tight and defined low end that never blooms into muddiness, and a sparkling, airy high end that makes single notes ring like struck crystal. Finished in satin Livingston Lemondrop — a translucent lemon-gold that sets the flame maple ablaze — and wrapped in PRS's violin carve top, this is a guitar that announces itself visually before it plays a single note.
The Flame Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard delivers a playing experience that matches the tonal precision of the body beneath it — fast, articulate, and immediate in its response, with the DGT neck profile shaped specifically around Grissom's preference for a comfortable, player-focused feel. Satin nitro finish on the body keeps the wood breathing and responsive rather than locked under layers of thick gloss. DGT-voiced pickups — developed alongside Grissom to capture exactly the tone he hears in his head — work through a two-volume/push-pull tone control setup that opens up additional coil options without cluttering the signal path. PRS Phase III tuners with faux bone buttons, the Gen II PRS Patented Tremolo, and a gorgeous PRS Paisley hardshell case round out a package that is, without question, one of the finest instruments the Interstellar Tone Traveler has encountered anywhere in the PRS solar system.
