PRS Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition - Aries Blue
Every collaboration has a beginning, and this one has a specific address: John Mayer's own Arles Blue Defender. Before there was a Willow Green guitar, a Portofino Red guitar, or a Sandglow Yellow guitar, there was a moment when Mayer looked at the color of his own vehicle and understood immediately that it belonged on a Silver Sky. Arles Blue is where this entire collection started — the color that made the case for the collaboration before a single spec was written — and that origin story gives this guitar a particular weight that the other three, exceptional as they are, simply can't claim. Named for the sun-saturated Provençal city that once gave Van Gogh his most vivid palette, Arles Blue is a rich, confident, deeply saturated blue with real presence and character. Under high-gloss nitro on alder, with a matching painted headstock carrying the color from body to tuning machines, it is the most arresting guitar in the collection and the most personal one — the instrument that proves Mayer's instinct was right from the beginning. Neck plate reads "Arles Blue — 1 of 500." Custom DEFENDER badge on the PRS ATA Molded Case. The origin story, bottled.
The Silver Sky beneath it is the instrument Mayer spent years building toward: a 25.5" scale, bolt-on maple neck with a 635JM-R profile and 7.25" rosewood radius that places the playing feel squarely in vintage Fender territory while carrying PRS's precision and consistency throughout. Three 635JM single-coil pickups — voiced through years of refinement to capture the bloom, clarity, and dynamic sensitivity of the vintage guitars that shaped Mayer's sound — run through a 5-way blade with one volume and two tone controls, covering the full tonal spectrum of great single-coil playing with no compromises. PRS Steel Tremolo, vintage-style locking tuners, satin nitro neck, bone nut, Small Bird inlays — the foundation that earned the Silver Sky its reputation, now wearing the color that earned its existence. Of all the guitars in this collection, this is the one that started the conversation. That matters.
