PRS Wood Library Custom 24 Stoptail Limited - Faded Whale Blue
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
The Interstellar Tone Traveler has always had a particular affinity for blues that carry some history in them — colors that look like they've been somewhere, that have a depth and character beyond what a straight saturated hue can deliver. Faded Whale Blue is exactly that: a blue with weight and presence, softened just enough to feel lived-in rather than lacquered-new, the kind of color that reads differently in different light and rewards the closer look. Over curly maple under high gloss nitro, it moves — the figure catching the fade and making it dimensional in a way that a plain top simply couldn't. The Black Limba back provides that warm, resonant foundation beneath the maple's clarity, the curly maple neck is stained to match the top for complete visual continuity from headstock to body, and the Ziricote fingerboard and headplate bring their dark, intricate grain into conversation with the blue in a pairing that feels genuinely considered. Old School Bird inlays complete the picture. One hundred of this color exist worldwide in this historic first run of the Custom 24 with stoptail.
The platform is the same as across this entire Wood Library Stopbar run — and the platform is the point. PRS Stoptail with brass inserts, the first time this configuration has been offered on the Custom 24, delivering the immediate articulation and direct string-to-body resonance that a fixed bridge provides without compromise. DMO pickups through the 5-way blade switching cover the full tonal range of the Custom 24 with the nuance and touch-sensitivity the pickups are voiced for, the Pattern Thin neck (53/64" at first fret, 57/64" at twelfth) runs across a 10" Ziricote fingerboard with 24 frets at 25" scale, and at 7lbs 5oz this is one of the lighter examples in the run — Black Limba and curly maple doing what they do best. PRS ATA Multi-Fit Molded Case included. Deliveries expected September through December.
