The Interstellar Tone Traveler has encountered a lot of stunning instruments across this galaxy, but the Novo Custom Miris J in Candy Apple Orange is operating on its own frequency entirely — a semi-hollow swamp ash offset body wrapped in a rich, glowing CAO nitro finish with amber back and sides, under light aging that gives the whole instrument a luminous, jewel-like depth that catches every photon in the room and throws it back doubled. The Bull Black headstock and black binding contrasts dramatically against that orange body like a night sky behind a sunset, and the 5-ply black pickguard and MOTO Block inlays on ebony add a sophisticated, visual weight that keeps the whole aesthetic from drifting into pure flash. This is a guitar that has earned its nickname — the Sparkle Machine — before you've heard a single note.

Then the Lollar Gold Foil pickups open their eyes, and everything gets even better. Gold Foils are one of the great sonic secrets of the guitar universe — originally found in budget Japanese instruments of the 1960s and rediscovered by boutique players who couldn't explain why they sounded so good. Jason Lollar's interpretation captures every ounce of that glassy, chimey, crystalline character while adding the consistency and quality control that vintage examples could never guarantee: bright and present without harshness, musical and complex without muddiness, and utterly unique in a world full of humbuckers and P-90s. Through the semi-hollow swamp ash body, they bloom and breathe with an acoustic resonance that solid-body instruments can't touch. Jumbo stainless steel Jescar frets on a compound 9.5"-14" ebony fingerboard make every note feel locked-in and immediate, the Mastery M1 bridge and NV Vibrato with Lightning Bolt arm keep the whole ship in tune through every expressive moment, and Dumble knobs complete the vintage-inspired control aesthetic.
