Collings 470 JL - Antiqued Sunburst

There are signature guitars built around an artist's name, and then there are signature guitars built around an artist's soul. The Collings 470 JL is firmly in the second category. Julian Lage — child prodigy, Grammy-recognized artist, and by near-universal consensus one of the most gifted and creative guitarists alive today — worked in close collaboration with Collings to develop an instrument that captured something specific: the warm, singing, acoustically alive voice of the great vintage hollow-bodies, executed with the precision and consistency that only a builder of Collings' caliber can deliver. The result is a fully hollow, trestle-braced guitar of extraordinary refinement — laminated maple over Honduran mahogany, resonating with the kind of open, three-dimensional acoustic bloom that semi-hollow instruments can only approximate. At 6 lbs 3 oz in an Antiqued Sunburst finish that looks like it aged gracefully over decades, this guitar is as beautiful to hold as it is to hear.
Every specification reflects the same depth of intention. Ron Ellis Ellisonics pickups — handwound by one of the most respected pickup makers in the world specifically for this collaboration — deliver a vintage jazz voice of extraordinary nuance and authenticity: warm, clear, and dynamically alive in a way that rewards both a whispered chord and a singing single-note line. The pinned ebony bridge base with Tune-o-Matic saddle top and nylon saddles is a quietly brilliant design choice, combining vintage feel with modern intonation accuracy. Relic Nickel Waverly tuners with Vintage Oval buttons at 16:1 ratio keep tuning effortless and precise, and the JL neck profile on Honduran mahogany with an ebony fingerboard and 24 7/8" scale length plays with an intimate, immediate feel that seems to disappear in your hands. Two individual tone controls give you precise shaping of each pickup's character. This is a guitar built for players who listen closely, phrase intentionally, and demand that their instrument respond to every nuance. Mint condition. Ready to sing.
