Introducing the Gibson LG-2 50s Original in Natural — a small-body rocket with a voice far bigger than its orbit.
First launched in 1942 during Gibson’s legendary Banner era, the LG-2 emerged as the nimble alternative to larger dreadnoughts, sharing the stage with icons like the Gibson J-45 and the Gibson Southern Jumbo. It quickly earned a reputation for delivering a bold, balanced tone from a compact frame — the kind of sound that punches above Earth’s atmosphere.
Now, the 50s Original returns in a stripped-back Natural finish, letting the raw beauty of its tonewoods shine like an unfiltered signal from deep space.
Built with solid mahogany back and sides and crowned with a solid Sitka spruce top, this LG-2 resonates with clarity, warmth, and stellar projection. Traditional scalloped X-bracing fuels a rich, focused voice that feels expansive despite its compact dimensions. It’s articulate enough for delicate fingerstyle constellations and powerful enough for full-throttle strumming launches.
The Historic V-profile mahogany neck connects via a compound dovetail joint secured with hot hide glue — an old-world construction method that enhances resonance and sustain. An unbound rosewood fretboard with classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays keeps the aesthetic clean and timeless, perfectly matched to the understated elegance of the Natural top. The sloped rectangular rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle, and Grover® strap tuners ensure rock-solid performance stability.
Sonically, the Sitka spruce top gives this 50s-inspired model a lively, balanced, and articulate character — ideal for players who want clarity and responsiveness across styles. Its voice sits beautifully in a mix, making it an exceptional companion to larger-bodied guitars without ever getting lost in the sonic cosmos.
And for modern explorers? The onboard L.R. Baggs™ VTC system makes this ship stage- and studio-ready right out of its Gibson hardshell case. With discreet soundhole-mounted controls, you stay in command of your tone without disrupting the vintage vibe.
Clean. Honest. Resonant.
Whether it’s your couch companion, your live performance co-pilot, or your next secret studio weapon, the Gibson LG-2 50s Original in Natural proves that sometimes the most powerful forces in the universe don’t need a burst of color to be seen — just the right signal to be heard.
