First introduced in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird™ has earned its place as one of the most beloved and recognizable acoustic guitars of all time—and the new Hummingbird Special offers that legendary heritage at an exceptional value.

Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this American-made acoustic features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with genuine solid mahogany back and sides, delivering a warm, rich tone with excellent balance and dynamic range. Traditional scalloped X-bracing enhances resonance and projection, making this guitar a perfect choice for everything from folk and country to blues and rock.

With a concert-depth body, the Hummingbird Special offers a slightly thinner profile than the standard Hummingbird, providing a tighter low end and a more comfortable playing experience—ideal for stage performers and songwriters alike.

The utile neck features Gibson’s Round profile and a rosewood fretboard with a 12” radius, decorated with classic pearloid parallelogram inlays. It’s joined to the body with a compound dovetail joint using traditional hot hide glue for maximum sustain and resonance. The 20-fret fingerboard ensures smooth playability across the neck.

Equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup and soundhole-mounted volume control, the Hummingbird Special is studio and stage-ready right out of the box.
