The Interstellar Tone Traveler has orbited the farthest edges of the boutique guitar universe in search of instruments that exist completely outside the familiar constellations — and the Teye Electric Gypsy La Perla is exactly that kind of discovery. Dutch-born luthier Teye de Zwaan built guitars in Austin, Texas that drew equally on Spanish flamenco tradition, gypsy craftsmanship, and high-performance electric guitar design — creating instruments that look unlike anything else on a stage and sound even more distinctive than they appear. This La Perla — "The Pearl" — dates from the coveted Austin period of Teye's production, when each guitar was built by hand in Texas with the kind of personal attention that simply cannot be scaled. The headplate, the finish, the ornate detailing throughout are all signatures of a maker who approached guitar building as fine art rather than manufacturing. Rare when new. Genuinely hard to find now.

 Under all that visual drama lives a seriously capable electric guitar. Lollar Custom Wind pickups — wound specifically for Teye's instruments by Jason Lollar himself — deliver a warm, articulate, musical voice perfectly matched to the mahogany body and ebony fingerboard's natural character. The 5-way switching with two independent volume controls and a tone give you precise blending capability, but the real secret weapon is the Mood Knob — Teye's proprietary passive circuit that shifts the tonal character of the guitar in subtle, musical ways that defy easy categorization, adding presence, texture, and personality that standard tone controls simply cannot access. A compound 12"-14" radius, medium jumbo frets, and "D" neck profile at 1.650" make the playing experience immediate and comfortable, while the two-piece hardtail bridge and Grover Imperial tuners keep everything locked in. At 7 lbs 8 oz, she balances beautifully. This particular example presents in excellent condition with minimal signs of play — just one small scuff on the back of the headstock.
