PRS 2013 Experience Private Stock #6 - Dirty Blonde
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
There are Private Stock guitars, and then there are instruments that PRS can never — and will never — build again. The 2013 Experience Private Stock Custom 22 is firmly in the second category. Commissioned to commemorate the 7th Annual Experience PRS event, this extraordinary instrument carries appointments sourced from Mammoth Ivory — prehistoric material harvested from woolly mammoths preserved in permafrost for thousands of years, a resource so rare and so legally restricted that PRS no longer incorporates it into any instrument in any lineup at any price. The Interstellar Tone Traveler is not prone to hyperbole, but this is a genuinely irreplaceable guitar: not because of its age, not because of its number in the run, but because the materials used to build it no longer exist in any future PRS catalog. What you hold is the last of its kind.
Dressed in Dirty Blonde high gloss nitrocellulose over a stunning quilted maple top on a swamp ash back — an exotic combination that gives this instrument an almost luminous, honeyed warmth at the surface — this Custom 22 is visually spectacular before you ever notice the details. Then the details arrive. Mammoth Ivory, White Gold, and 14 Karat Gold 2013 Experience fingerboard inlays on an African Blackwood board, with Mammoth Ivory purfling running the full length of the fingerboard edge, headstock veneer, and truss rod cover — a level of material luxury and craftsmanship that places this instrument in a category beyond even most Private Stock commissions. The African Blackwood headstock veneer carries Paul Reed Smith's own handwritten signature, also trimmed in Mammoth Ivory purfling. Gold and Nickel Robson electric tuning pegs with Ivoroid buttons, an Aluminum PRS Stoptail with Brass Saddles, and a matching Swamp Ash electronics backplate complete an instrument that is as much a collector's artifact as it is a world-class guitar. PRS 57/08 humbuckers — among the finest pickups the company has ever produced — deliver warm, articulate, harmonically complex tone that rewards every touch. At 6 lbs 13 oz, it plays as effortlessly as it looks.
Condition Notes: Pre-owned in very good condition, showing honest signs of a played and loved life. Some small finish chips along the side of the guitar. Light scratches on the back. One small dent on the neck, bass side, at the 4th fret. None of these affect playability or tone in any way, and all are consistent with a guitar that has been genuinely enjoyed. Includes original Private Stock Brown Leather case.
