Twenty-five guitars. Twenty-five paintings. Each one different. Each one a celebration. In this extraordinary year marking 250 years of American independence, the Interstellar Tone Traveler is honored to present one of the most remarkable commemorative instruments we have ever encountered — the James Tyler Studio Elite HDX Stars and Stripes Shmear, created in tribute to the Semiquincentennial of this nation and limited to just 25 hand-painted examples in the entire world. This is not a graphic wrap, not a screen print, not a production finish — it is a hand-applied work of art, painted one body at a time, making every single instrument on this earth genuinely one of a kind. The upper left bout opens into a deep, atmospheric blue field where white stars drift and swirl in cloudy, nebula-like formations — abstract enough to feel cosmic, unmistakable enough to stop you cold. The stripes sweep across the lower bout in deep crimson and white, dragged and textured with heavy, almost three-dimensional paint application that gives them an organic, battle-worn energy, like a flag that has earned every mile of its 250-year journey. The matching Red, White, and Blue Tyler logo on the headstock completes the vision from headstock to strap button. Under stage lights, this guitar will be visible from orbit.
The Stars and Stripes body is the canvas — but underneath it lives one of the most sophisticated and capable guitar platforms ever built, the James Tyler Studio Elite HDX. JTS5500 single-coils in the neck and middle positions deliver the kind of clear, articulate, session-ready tone that players spend careers chasing, while the Super humbucker at the bridge fires the afterburners for crushing rhythm crunch and soaring lead work that cuts through any mix in any atmosphere. The HDX wiring system is where this guitar separates itself from the known universe: a Midboost preamp engages on command, snapping the upper midrange into razor-sharp focus with presence and punch that passive controls can only dream about. A Bridge Series/Parallel button morphs the humbucker's personality on command — tight and focused in series, open and airy in parallel — and the Neck+Bridge On button unlocks tonal combinations that standard Strat wiring has kept classified since 1954. Quartersawn maple neck, compound 10"-12" radius, Wide/Tall frets, Hipshot locking tuners, and a Gotoh 510TS bridge complete the mission profile. Two hundred and fifty years of American independence. Twenty-five guitars. This is one of them.
