There are finishes that decorate a guitar and there are finishes that transform it into something else entirely — something that stops the room before a single note is played. The Novo Miris P2 in Starry Night light aging nitro is the latter. Distant stars under a summer sky. Deep, dark, and alive with the kind of metallic luminance that shifts and breathes differently under every light source, the Starry Night finish carries the light aging treatment that Novo applies with the same thoughtfulness they bring to every other dimension of construction — giving the nitro that slightly worn, organic quality that makes it feel like this guitar has already lived a life worth living. Beneath it, a semi-hollow Swamp Ash body does everything the tonal universe asks of it simultaneously: the Swamp Ash contributes its characteristic brightness, resonance, and articulate midrange, while the semi-hollow construction adds a natural acoustic bloom and warmth that rounds off the hard edges and fills every note with a sustaining, harmonic richness that solid bodies simply cannot replicate. White binding traces every curve with clean precision, while the amber headstock adds a warm visual counterpoint to the deep, starlit body — a guitar that looks different from every angle, every time.
Two Fralin P-90s are the voice of the Miris P2, and in this context they are absolutely the right choice. Lindy Fralin's P-90 wind is among the most celebrated in the industry — clear, biting, warm, and touch-sensitive in a way that rewards dynamics and penalizes nothing. Through the semi-hollow Swamp Ash body, they produce a tonal character that is entirely Novo's own: bigger and more resonant than a solid-body P-90 guitar, with a three-dimensional quality to every chord and single note that the Interstellar Tone Traveler finds consistently addictive. The Chunky C neck profile at .880" fills the hand with more wood than the typical modern neck, contributing both playing comfort and the kind of warmth that players who have played vintage guitars recognize immediately. MOTO block inlays on East Indian rosewood, a compound 9.5"-14" radius, and jumbo Jescar nickel-silver frets make the playing surface fast, comfortable, and precise across every position. TonePros Tune-o-Matic and stop tail bridge lock everything in place for maximum sustain and intonation stability, Grover Rotomatic tuners keep it there, and an aged pearloid pickguard completes a visual package as cohesive as the cosmos it was named for. At 7 lbs. 2 oz., this Miris P2 wears as lightly as it plays beautifully.
