PRS Wood Library DGT Quilt - Satin Copperhead

Some guitars don't just play well — they pull you into their orbit before you ever plug them in, and this DGT Wood Library in Satin Copperhead is precisely that kind of instrument. We've traveled far in our pursuit of exceptional tone, and when PRS's own luthiers hand-select wood from the deepest reserves of the Wood Library, we pay close attention. The Quilt Maple top on this example is extraordinary — three-dimensional, pillowy, and alive with figure that seems to shift and breathe as light moves across its surface, like looking into the layered depths of a copper nebula. Under the Satin Copperhead finish, that quilt maple ignites into something genuinely celestial: warm burnished copper tones flowing through the three-dimensional figure, the translucent satin revealing every contour of the wood beneath it with a richness and depth that gloss finishes bury rather than celebrate. Draped over a Swamp Ash body, this is a DGT that speaks with a voice unlike any mahogany-backed guitar in the known universe — percussive attack, a tight and defined low end that never blooms into muddiness, and a sparkling, airy high end where single notes ring like light refracting through interstellar crystal. David Grissom is a guitarist whose obsession with tone we recognize and deeply respect, and the Wood Library designation means this specific instrument was chosen because the materials demanded it.
The Flame Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard delivers a playing experience as precise and immediate as the body beneath it — fast, articulate, and shaped around the DGT neck profile that Grissom developed to feel exactly right under the hand across hours of playing without fatigue. The satin nitro body finish keeps the wood breathing and responsive, a living surface rather than a sealed one. DGT-voiced pickups — developed alongside Grissom to capture the tone he actually hears in his head — operate through a two-volume/push-pull tone control that opens coil-splitting options without adding complexity to the signal path. PRS Phase III tuners with faux bone buttons and the Gen II PRS Patented Tremolo complete a hardware package built for serious players who demand both precision and expressiveness from their instrument. Shipped in a PRS Molded Hardshell Case built to protect this level of instrument wherever the mission takes it. Of all the guitars we've encountered in the PRS solar system, the Wood Library DGT in Satin Copperhead is among the most compelling we've had the privilege of carrying.
