ESP USA Custom Shop M-II DX - Psychedelic Flame
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
We've seen a lot of guitar finishes cross our path in the course of our travels through the tonal universe, but the Psychedelic Flame on this ESP USA Custom Shop M-II DX stopped us completely. It is exactly what the name promises and exactly what we described when we first laid eyes on it: neural pathways through space and time. The flame maple top ignites in a cascade of color that flows through the natural figure of the wood like bioluminescent rivers through a cosmic landscape — a finish that looks different from every angle, under every light, at every moment. This is the ESP USA Custom Shop at its most expressive, and it sets the visual stage for an instrument that delivers at the highest level across every dimension. The mahogany body provides the warm, resonant foundation that the M-Series has always been built on, and the flame maple top contributes both the visual drama and the harmonic complexity that transforms a great guitar into an extraordinary one. Built in ESP's Van Nuys, California facility to the exacting standards that separate the USA Custom Shop from every import line the brand produces, the M-II DX is the superstrat format taken to its absolute ceiling — no compromises, no shortcuts, no concessions to production efficiency over quality.
The specification is built for players who demand total control over every note at any speed. The Extra Thin "U" neck profile on a 3-piece maple bolt-on neck delivers one of the fastest playing experiences available on any production instrument — snappy, immediate, and completely out of the way — while 24 Extra Jumbo stainless frets give the fingers every millimeter of range and every advantage in bending and legato technique that the format can offer. Seymour Duncan Custom 14 humbuckers with Alnico II magnets occupy both neck and bridge positions, a deliberate pairing that creates a consistent tonal voice across the entire pickup selection: tight, articulate, and harmonically rich at high gain, with the Alnico II's characteristically smooth top end preventing the harshness that lesser pickups produce under extreme saturation. A Floyd Rose Original bridge with Gotoh Magnum locking tuners and Dunlop Straplok buttons complete a package that is stage-ready and road-proven. At 8 lbs. even, this is a guitar we reach for when the mission demands the best the USA Custom Shop can produce.
